  • Great book for the beginner

    By Timothy 30044
Great range of recipes for cooks of all skill levels. Some sound delicious and I will be trying them out on my family. Packed full of information that can be a bit difficult to read if you have already decided to become vegetarian/vegan. Also includes a full menu to use as a guide and many references.
  • Exceptional Vegetarian Advice

    By Carlhose
I have always liked vegetables and have often thought about trying a strictly vegetarian diet. Although I knew eating this way could be beneficial, I wasn't fully aware of the facts before reading the Vegetarian Cookbook for Beginners published by Rockbridge Press. This book provides a lot of details, some great research, and list of benefits of eating vegetarian, and most importantly, some very delicious recipes. I purchased the book with the intention of commiting to a vegetarian diet at least on a part time basis, and after reading it, I have begun removing foods from my shelves and grocery list based on the information found here. Very well presented, inspiring, and filled with real-world advice, not just a lot of statistical information. I can't promise myself I will continue to eat as a vegetarian, but thanks to this starter book, I feel more like I will be eating vegetables on a more regular basis and I know some very good reasons for it.
  • A must have in the Vegetarian kitchen

    By delisasmith
Amazing and tasty recipes, great 2-week plan to get you started and all packed in this little book. For those of you skeptical about changing to Vegetarian, try some of these recipes first. I can tell you from experience, they are easy to fix and taste awesome. Read the different classifications of Vegetarianism. You will be sure to find one that fits you; and the best part is, you don’t have to completely give up on animal products. I still eat dairy, but incorporate more of the green leafy stuff to improve my energy levels. Put down the meat and save your heart.

  • Tour-de-force

    By Delicious Wellness
With awesome recipes like "Raw Banana Mint Pie" and "Raw Chocolate Truffles" this book goes far beyond being a simple introduction to vegetarian eating and straight into a tour-de-force of some of the best cuisine a seasoned chef can hope to get their hands on. Packed with references to cutting edge science, readers can enjoy the bonus of being up-to-date with current new trends on vegetarian health benefits. Great buy!
  • Great start for non-vegetarian

    By W Payne 2
While the book provides a useful overview of the vegetarian lifestyle for the novice and generally encourages healthy eating, the book would be improved by focusing more on key entrees for individuals and less on sweets or desserts. For example, the book has one section called fruit focused recipes that offers lots of desserts and snack foods along with breakfast foods, despite the fact that there is a breakfast section and snack section also in the book. This is confusing and also leads to a missed opportunity to add a section on lunch and dinner that could help people who need options for these meals.
  • Vegetarian Cookbook for Beginners

    By Lily Music
Becoming a vegetarian or vegan is made simple by educating the reader from the beginning. It’s a soft sell and one can't help but want to engage in a healthier lifestyle and eating habits when it’s outlined so that it’s easy to make the transformation. The recipes are enticing, but would be better served with an occasional full color picture of a meal, perhaps at the beginning of each chapter.
  • Easy to Read Vegetarian Cookbook

    By Stevens Trio
To become a vegetarian, there are a multitude of reasons such as a healthier lifestyle, religious choice, medical reasons or even an ethical choice. This vegetarian cookbook begins by detailing such choices & how becoming a vegetarian has many health benefits. Also, there is a handy list to take to the grocery store when becoming a vegetarian. For vegetarian restaurants, the book names a few too. Then, the cookbook details a 2 week meal plan to follow. There are chapters divided by breakfast, salads, fruit focused, and raw food recipes. Yummy healthy choices such as Pumpkin Cinnamon Pancakes, Red Bean Chili and Sun-Dried Tomato Spinash Salad are easy to follow. As a non-vegetarian, I will be making some of these healthy dishes for my family.
  • Easy To Understand For Beginners

    By ckinsm
My 2014 resolution is to become vegetarian, so I picked up this book to get me started. What I like the most about it is it is very easy to understand. It opens with helpful information and benefits on changing your diet. I even learned about the first vegetarian society! The book offers hundreds of recipes that seem easy to follow, and there are plenty of great tips on how to switch gradually, how to shop differently, and even advice on places to eat out. I am looking forward to getting healthy!
